Since she was eight years old, Lilly Rayne Nightingale felt like Fate was trying to wipe away her existence through a series of odd, near fatal incidences. Luckily, her best friend Will was always one step ahead of Fate preventing her from being at the wrong place at the wrong time. Will was her knight in shining armor until he broke her heart after their one and only kiss. On Lilly’s first day of college, she meets Brand Cole. Intrigued by Brand, Lilly must decide whether or not she can give up her adolescent fantasy of being reunited with Will and allow Brand the opportunity to conqueror her heart. Not only do Will and Brand both love Lilly, they share a dark secret neither wants Lilly to discover. Lilly thinks Fate is after her once again when a new series of attempts on her life start to take place, but she soon learns someone of flesh and blood is trying to kill her this time.

I believe this book has potential of getting better as the series progresses, but for me it is just ‘meh’. All together the book has a cute storyline. Lilly is starting college with her best friend and this is her chance to start fresh. On her first day of classes Lilly meets Brand and they hit it off. They started to hang out on campus in order to get to know each other better before they went on a first date. As the week progresses a series of events happen around Lilly and if it weren’t for Will, her first crush, and Brand she might possibly be dead. So how does Will always know when something bad is going to happen? I guess you will have to read the book to find out.
One part I did not like was when Lilly told her life story to Brand. The transition at the end needs to be different because it took me awhile to figure out if she is still telling her story or not. To be honest the characters sucked. Lilly just contradicts almost everything she does, thinks, or says. She has been in love with Will her entire life but he ignores her until someone else is interested in her. Then Will just comes out and tells Lilly that he loves her. Perfect, except for the fact that she just pushes him away confused and questions herself on what she should do because there is also Brand. As if this love triangle wasn’t bad enough here comes Malcolm. Malcolm was by far the best character but that is not saying much.
Like I said in the first sentence, the book was just meh to me. Nothing really stuck out to grab my attention. I would say that this book was maybe geared towards younger people although the characters in the book were in college. If you read this book let me know what you thought. I would like to hear whether or not you enjoyed the story.
